The main reasons of multiview video coding（MVC） were described.Firstly

the architecture and evolutional history of MVC was introduced.Then

the key technologies of MVC were discussed in detail including prediction structure

techniques to improve the coding efficiency and high level syntax.Finally

conclusions were drawn and future research directions for MVC in 3D video applications were put forward.
